What is the Egyptian Foundation for Development and Quality?
An Egyptian civil society foundation based in El-Delgamon, Kafr El-Zayat, in Gharbia Governorate, working under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity. It works on building people and developing human capital through five areas: education quality, people with disabilities, thinking and innovation, women, children and youth, and cultural and human development.
What is the Foundation’s slogan, and where does it come from?
The Foundation’s slogan is “Building people builds the world”, and its vision follows from it, as set out in the Foundation’s organisational manual.
Where does the Foundation work, and does it have branches?
The Foundation has six premises across Gharbia and Menoufia governorates: the main administrative office in the village of El-Delgamon in Kafr El-Zayat, two activity centres in Kafr El-Zayat (“Umm El-Gouda” and “Bedayet Amal”), two in Tanta (“Yabqa El-Athar” and the El-Salam district), and one in Sadat City. These are operating sites for activities; the Foundation has no separately registered branches. It also delivers activities in schools, cultural palaces and partner associations.
How do I get a service for my child with learning difficulties or Irlen Syndrome?
The Foundation runs assessment and rehabilitation programmes including “Let’s Learn Properly” for learning difficulties, “I Feel You” for Irlen Syndrome awareness, and “Come and Learn What Your Child Can Do” for intelligence and psychological assessments, alongside a sensory integration room for occupational therapy. To request a service, contact the disability committee or call the Foundation.
Are the training courses and programmes free?
It depends on the programme. Some activities are paid for from the Foundation’s own resources and from donations and are provided to those most in need of care; others are delivered in partnership with other bodies. Please contact us to ask about a specific programme and how to join it.
How can I volunteer with the Foundation?
The Foundation welcomes anyone who wants to develop themselves through its programmes, including university students, and trains its volunteers on its equipment — among them the devices in the sensory integration room. Send us a message telling us about your experience and the area that interests you.
How do I donate, and what is the donation spent on?
You can give money, goods, or your expertise and time. Support is spent on the activities approved in the strategic plan adopted by the Board of Trustees and the finance committee, which include awareness programmes, skills development, trips, handicrafts and cash assistance for those most in need of care.
Does the Foundation accept funding from outside Egypt?
We welcome international partnerships and grants. Receiving foreign funding for civil society organisations in Egypt is subject to procedures and approvals from the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the Foundation complies with them fully. Funders are welcome to contact us to begin the process and to obtain the institutional documents.
Is the Foundation subject to oversight or institutional assessment?
Yes. The Foundation is officially registered and works under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and takes part in the institutional excellence programme in partnership with the Misr El-Kheir Foundation, which covers institutional assessment, the organisational manual, internal working systems, financial planning and updating expenditure records.
How much of the site is available in English?
The English site carries the Foundation's institutional work in full: who we are, our programme areas, projects, contact details, how to support us, and all 285 archive reports.
Who was the poet Maher Nasr?
A founder of the Egyptian Foundation for Development and Quality, who died on 20 October 2020. The Foundation dedicates its charitable and development work to him, its registered office is his house in El-Delgamon, and one of its cultural awards carries his name.
This is a new website — where is the old site’s content?
Every one of the Foundation’s 285 institutional reports was moved to this site, at their original dates from 2018 to 2026, together with the photo archive. Links from the old site are redirected to their new locations.
