Do not rain your guns down on the birds of our dreams
Let the steps of our children
… spread through the cities
and wash from our streets
the spittle of your tongues…
**
Is there a crow among you!??
to teach us
how to hide your shame
instead of carrying it
on the shoulders of the palm trees?
**
Rise, mend the fear,
spread it out as a cloak for the naked
Why not gather the saplings of your sons
and plant them in our eyes?
And from the hearts whose dignity rings out,
make a rosary for the Lord
so that worship may be offered, asking for our birth!
**
Have you seen God weeping at your follies?
Or do you watch His tears soaking the dough of the hungry's dreams?
When will you glimpse His hand
gathering up our wounds for the wind
and scattering them over your arrogance??
