Rural Women Health Visitors

The visitor works under the supervision of the project manager and the follow-up of the supervisor, and is responsible for the following:

1. Learning the population data and problems of her assigned geographical area (the number of women of childbearing age, their category, where they live and their state of health)
2. Preparing a monthly work plan covering her assigned geographical area, drawing up a schedule of home visits and obtaining the supervisors' approval of the work plan
3. Raising health awareness of safe motherhood and family planning services in her assigned geographical area
4. Raising community awareness in her assigned geographical area of the government units that provide the service
5. Supporting women who use family planning methods with information on using the methods and with referrals, to encourage them to continue and to reduce problems related to use
6. Reaching the groups who do not come forward for services at primary health care units, and family planning services among population groups not using any method, to encourage them to start, or lapsed users to resume use, or to attract new beneficiaries
7. Visiting women who have stopped attending antenatal care to encourage them to continue receiving antenatal services, and visiting recently lapsed users to give them the information, support and referrals needed according to the reasons for stopping, and to encourage them to continue with contraception
8. Visiting women after childbirth and after miscarriage to help them and meet their wishes regarding contraception by providing information or referrals
9. Keeping accurate records of visits, of people referred and of those contacted
10. Referring cases that need health care and reproductive health services, such as (antenatal care – child immunisation – acute respiratory infections in children …etc.)
11. Selecting the families who meet the conditions for benefiting from the services the project provides
12. Recording the data of each family
