First Report

Attendance

Attendance: advisers of the Egyptian Foundation for Development and Quality; community participation officials at the Gharbia Directorate of Education; community participation officials at the Basyoun Education Administration; and the Directorate of Social Affairs (former head of the development department)
– Timing: from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
– The workshop was opened by Eng. Abu El-Yazid Anwar Abu Shetia – the village mayor and the project's funder
– The school principal, Mr Talaat Khedr, opened the workshop by welcoming those present and launching the project. He was followed by the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Foundation for Development and Quality, and by Mr Fathy El-Bily – former head of the development department at the Directorate of Social Affairs
The opening address was then delivered by the Foundation's engineering advisers: Eng. Islam Ali Hamroush and Eng. Mina Samuel
The session began with an introduction to robots and to the rationale for the project. Remarks marking the launch were then given by Mr Mohamed Wagdy, Director of Community Participation at the Directorate of Education, who set out the project's objectives and how schools can benefit from it

A video about robots was shown; the pupils answered the engineers' questions and produced a good model
