Psychological Capital: a new book

Psychological capital

Introduction

We live in an age of globalisation, and survival belongs to those who hold knowledge, know how to plan and possess knowledge assets,

Capital no longer means only fixed assets such as land, money in the bank and property. The view of capital has changed, and intellectual capital and psychological capital have become essential concepts in the knowledge age

Interest in psychological capital comes from the work of experts and psychologists: twenty-first-century skills call for a concerted effort to prepare the human mind to build a psychological capital through which a person can meet challenges and create a distinctive, good-quality life.

Dear father, dear mother

We are offering the modern library a new approach to building your child and establishing the foundations of a unique personality. We offer you steps for developing your children's psychological capital, for they are the adults of the future and building blocks of the nation

Economic capital: money, property and tangible assets

Psychological capital: hope, optimism and joy …self-efficacy. Those who hold psychological capital are able to build and acquire economic capital

Human capital: experience, learning, skills, knowledge and ideas

Social capital: relationships, networks and friends

* What does your son or daughter have? What does your son or daughter know? What relationships does your son or daughter have? Who is your son or daughter?

We can develop our children's abilities by developing their psychological capital; through it you will be able to take pride in your son or daughter

Let us do this together: we will open the bank, make the deposits and work to grow them

Hope

Optimism

Self-efficacy

Resilience

Chapter one: your capital is your child …let us work out together what we want

Psychological capital (PsyCap) refers to the personal characteristics that contribute to individual productivity: "the study and targeted application of the positive development of the psychological capacities of human resources in order to improve the current work environment, capacities that can be measured, developed and managed efficiently". Luthans therefore held that psychological capital is not the same as personality or inherited, genetic emotional dispositions: it is not fixed in the same way, but is a variable structure, open to change and development through experience and training, in what is termed "psychological capital intervention" psychological capital   , psychological capital (PsyCap) is a set of positive psychological factors in individuals that have a positive effect on their productivity

The components of psychological capital:

   There are four main components:

  • Hope (hope): persistence in pursuing goals
  • Self-efficacy (self-efficacy): confidence in one's ability to make the effort needed to succeed
  • Resilience (resilience): the ability to cope with progress and setbacks and to change direction when problems arise, in order to reach goals and achieve success. Luthans defined it as "a positive psychological capacity that can be used to face negative events"
  • Optimism (optimism): the positive expectation of success in the present and the future

Scientific evidence has repeatedly confirmed that these four factors interact in harmony to improve productivity and have a positive effect on job performance, as does work behaviour      and positive organisational behaviour

Other core components of psychological capital include: mental health, engagement with work, emotional intelligence, courage, forgiveness, the desire to create, gratitude, mindfulness, and precision and verification.

Through our work on the project to develop inventive and positive thinking, we offer you proposals for quality of life and for acquiring the components of psychological capital

Dear parent

Let us build a knowledge society and make intellectual and psychological capital the most valuable thing our children possess

Step by step with you in setting up a bank for your son or daughter, building them a strong account made up of the elements of psychological capital

Steps for opening the account

  • Talk to your son or daughter about the requirements and skills of the twenty-first century, which need a different kind of capital from the one we are used to: they need creative and inventive abilities.
